Balance education and sport

Plan a workable balance between study and sport, look at education options that flex around training, and use worksheets to organise learning around sessions and travel.

Life beyond sport

Resource

Most aquatic athletes are students for much of their time in the sport. Morning training, classes, afternoon training and assignments do not fit into a day without a plan, and exam season always seems to land on a competition block.

This guide from the International Olympic Committee's Athlete365 Career+ programme helps you build that plan. It includes worksheets for mapping study around training and travel, and it features New Zealand Olympian Barbara Kendall among its athlete voices.

What to expect

A 14-page PDF with worksheets. Free, no sign-in. It opens as a file, not a web page.

Good to know

It is an older, international guide, so the planning advice holds up well, but check any named programmes and eligibility with your own school, university or NSO.
